Anything you can do Pete Doherty can do better and with a syringe hanging out of his arm to boot. I was a bit taken aback to discover while he’s shacked up at Kate Moss’ London flat with her daughter Lila Grace, his own son goes without a dad due to Pete’s habitual drug use. Astile, his 3 year old by ex-girlfriend Lisa Moorish of Kill City has zero contact with his father since Pete has continually broken promises to Lisa that he will clean up his act for his son. When interviewed, the singer for The Libertines and Babyshambles was blunt about whether his situation changed when he became a father:
“Not really. I don’t have a close relationship with his mother. But my family’s been amazing. My nan and my sister and my mum and dad all rally around for him. I need to buck up my ideas there. But when I can claim to have any sort of control over my own life, I’m going to take some responsibility for Astile. I love the little fella.”
Pete, pull it together, if not for your own sake then for your son! If you love him, then give a father! One that’s sober and doesn’t make finger paintings using their blood as ink! God, I can’t believe I was ever embarassed by my dad snoring loudly dropping the video camera in the front row of my ballet recital when I think about Astile trying to explain “Yep, that’s me dad in the tabloids, shooting heroin into a passed out girl on the kitchen floor.”
