We’re all familiar with the made up holiday of Festivus, right? The Seinfeld created phenomenon of an alternatve to Christmas where one can air one’s grievances against those who have dissapointed you is really about the only sort of celebrating I can get behind. As far as I’m concerned, everyday is Festivus, baby.

Today’s headache comes in the form of radio dillhole Don Imus. Not only does Imus have an air of insuffrability about him due to his penchant for Brokeback Mountain-esque cowboy hats and a feathered hairdo that takes Sanjaya AND Farrah Fawcett’s breath away, he also made some spectacularly thoughtless comments during a conversation with his producer on his radio program concerning the women’s basketball team at Rutgers University:
“that’s some rough girls from Rutgers. Man, they got tattoos …”
“Some hardcore hos,” McGuirk said.
“That’s some nappy-headed hos there, I’m going to tell you that,” Imus said.
And so it began. Imus has been suspended for two weeks from the air, but everyone from Al Roker to the National Organization Of Women have been caling for his permanent removal from the air. The Shock Jock came crawling to Al Sharpton and knelt before his Pressed n’ Permedness to beg forgiveness for the shockingly racist and misogynistic words. That didn’t go so well either.
At one point, he angrily exclaimed to guest Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick — a Michigan Democrat and member of the House Appropriations Committee as well as chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus — “I can’t get anywhere with you people.”
Sharpton then jumped in, saying, “Who is ‘you people?’”
Imus countered: “That’s jive — I mean you two people. You said you were going to be fair. Keep your word.”
He also tried to point out to Sharpton that he couldn’t POSSIBLY be racist becayuse ten percent of the children that come to his charity camp at his ranch are black. Dude, if you know exactly what percentage of black people have crossed your property? Then you probably have a couple white sheets, wooden crosses and gallons of gas chilling in your subconcious.
