Another Reason To Hate Simon Cowell

Like you needed one. Virginia native Chris Richardson chose to take a moment out of his stage time to express his condolences to the victims of the Virginia Tech University Massacre only to be mocked by the Callous Cowell:

“My heart and prayers go out to Virginia Tech. I have a lot of friends over there. Be strong,” Richardson, a Chesapeake, Virginia native, told the audience of the nation’s top-rated TV show. A quick camera shot showed Cowell rolling his eyes and impatiently tapping his hand on the table. Backstage, contestant Chris Richardson was left stunned, calling Simon’s reaction “sad and hurtful,” a top production source told the DRUDGE REPORT. Cowell’s flippant reaction came after he critiqued Richardson for a “nasally” performance of the Rascal Flatts song “Mayburry.” “Look, in his defense, Simon felt Chris was cynically deflecting his criticism,” a FOX executive explained. “It was unfortunate… he clearly was unaware the camera was on him when he rolled his eyes, and he was hardly making a rude gesture to the victim.”

Rolling your eyes sounds pretty effing rude to me. What if that was his son or sexy hunk of man meat brutally murdered in building with the doors chained and locked? I bet the Drama Queen gestures would have gotten shoved aside pretty quick. Simon went on to defend himself against the charges of out and out rudeness:

“I couldn’t hear what Chris had said. I was talking to Paula. My reaction (rolling my eyes) was to what he had said previously, that singing nasally is a form of singing.” “When I watched the show back, I was horrified.”

I’m more inclined to believe that he was in fact rolling his eyes at Paula or he was rolling his eyes for the attempt to garner sympathy despite a less than worthy performance. If you want to give an honest message to folks, do it before you sing and not afterwards when your about to be judged. It’s a petty manipulative tool and I for one am rather annoyed at it’s use.

“Waa, vote for me because I know people who were there. Don’t vote me off, I know VT students!”
