The doctor of WWF star Chris Benoit has been charged with illegally distributing painkillers from his practice with an Elvis Presley like hand. Phil Astin, III was charged with seven counts of handing out Percocets, Xanaxes and Adderall like they were candy. The ’scripts didn’t go to Benoit, but two patients recieved over 3000 pills between April 2004 to September 2005. Astin’s medical license has been suspended as he awaits trial. Astin was the doctor that prescribed the injections of anabolic steroids Benoit was taking to beef up, according to a sworn statement. WWF sources were adamant that steroids played no part in the murder suicide of Benoit and his family, but it looks like they might have to retract that statement. It’s not like the guy got huge drinking protein shakes and gunning his lats like Ron Burgundy.

“Roid Rage” isn’t going to cause someone to tie up a person before you kill them, much less murder two people over the course of two days, leave a bible at the foot of each victim, then hang yourself. If both had been beaten to death in a quick and violent manner I might buy it, but not a long, deliberate process which took over 3 days. Benoit snapped. Bad. But there’s too much method in the details we’ve heard about for it to simply be roid rage.
