Snark Pass Of The Week: Nicole Richie And Joel Madden

Parents to be Nicole and Joel(NiJoel? Jocole?)showered 100 expectant mothers with gifts at a surprise baby shower at a Los Angeles Free Clinic. The couple handed out $200,000 worth of cribs, toys and mattresses collected from their new charity, The Richie Madden Foundation:

The looks on their faces were priceless. Some of them didn’t even believe us [when they saw the gifts]. They thought we were joking. It’s really, really amazing. And they’re fantastic. We started [the foundation] out here in Los Angeles because this is our home and we live here. But we are hoping to spread this to all areas of the world. Joel and I travel a lot. We traveled a lot, even when I was pregnant. We went to Asia and Australia, and our hope is to improve the lives of people all over the world. It starts here, and the Los Angeles Free Clinic is a perfect place to start. They are a really amazing clinic.

The couple kicked off fundraising for the charity by asking guests at their Wizard of Oz themed baby shower to donate their gifts to people who needed it more than two Pampered(ha!)celebs. Wow, I am truly amazed at the goodwill of those two right now. It doesn’t make up for her drunk driving on the wrong side of the road or any of Good Charlotte’s music, but it’s a generous start.
